A Sample of what is to come

I've got many new striking and stand out agates coming. I just listed this one; for jewelry cabs, on the agates page, click on the picture to go to the listing.

One of the many reasons I love agates is that they take a fabulous shine. On the down side they can be difficult to photograph because of all that shine.

Agates

Agate is a type of chalcedony, usually at least slightly translucent and banded or with inclusions. It forms in concentric layers in a wide variety of colors and textures. Each individual agate forms by filling a cavity in host rock.

Many agates are hollow, and in such cases the center commonly consists of quartz crystals directed towards the free space, forming a crystal-lined cavity, or geode. A layer of very fine crystals is known as "Drusy" or "Druse". Often the Drusy will be the color of the mineral underneath.

Agate has a hardness of about 7 on the Moh's scale. The name is derived from its occurrence at the Achates River in southwestern Sicily.

In many traditions agate is believed to cure the stings of scorpions and the bites of snakes, soothe the mind, prevent contagion, quiet thunder and lightning, secure the favor of the powerful, and bring victory over enemies.

Metaphysical Properties: Agates in general are known for being lower intensity stones. They are considered stabilizing and strengthening influences.

Making progress

It seems that the picture index method of locating stones is working. Sales have been pretty good considering it is a new site. Thanks to all of you for all the support and encouragement.

The next step is to create indexing of like stones. There are still so many pictures to take. Back to work!!

GotRocks4Sale.com

Well we are getting there, two picture index pages are done. There's still some tweaking to do but hey, Rome wasn't built in a day. The site is getting some good traffic too, and even a couple sales (woohoo). Much work to do, so many beads. I guess when you start collecting things it can get out of hand! LOL.
