The process has started . . . . . .

Some of you may have figured out I am relocating by the other than Rock things showing up on the web site. The process has started, I have made four trips to Good Will, some lucky people are getting some cool stuff, and now I am packing.

I you live in the Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA area you might be interested in an enormous amount of black velvet gift boxes, various sizes, ring, pendant, necklace and a few bracelet boxes too. I haven't done the inventory yet however, if you are interested you can email me first. (millie.gotrocks (at) gmail.com)

The quantity and volume is just too much to ship, so somebody in my area is going to get about $350.00 worth of those black velvet gift boxes for $100.00.

New pages at the web site

I don't know where January went; I've been so busy cataloging, measuring, weighing and taking pictures the time just blew away.  I've been restocking and will be for awhile, my stock was getting seriously low. the turquoise is almost gone. I'm trying to find something special but it isn't an easy task when you want to buy in volume, there is a lot of junk out there.

I have however, found some fabulous Malachite and Lapis; both all natural. If you take the time to check pricing I think you will be very happy with the pricing. The Lapis has a good amount of gold in it, from Afghanistan; as nice as it is I think it probably came from old stock.

Malachite now has it's own gallery and so does Lapis.

If you like druzy, I've got over 1000 cts on the way, in all kinds of stunning colors but it will be a bit before that gets listed.

Thanks for all the interest and purchases you made already in 2012!

Chatoyant Pietersite

Sid Pieters discovered Pietersite in Namibia in 1962. He registered the find in Britain and published his discovery in 1964, and the stone was named in his honor. Though many believed that Pietersite could be found only in Namibia, in 1993 a similar stone was discovered in China's Hunan province.

Pietersite is "brecciated," an Italian word that means a combination of minerals and rock held together by a fine-grained sediment; in Pietersite that "sediment" is quartz.

Any white spots seen in Pietersite is Quartz, you could say that quartz is the host. Blue is the favorite of all the colors seen in Pietersite and comes from Namibia, Africa. Browns, golds and reds are also found and as I understand come from China.

Meet Gaby!

Early in 2009 Gaby quit her job with an international company and started creating more jewelry pieces and establishing Christe Jewelry (officially launched on January 15, 2010).

In December 2009 Gaby took her jewelry to the next level when she found wire jewelry. Wire was a to Gaby a new and interesting technique in jewelry making; an even more personalized and sophisticated way to create jewelry. After trying it, Gaby knew that this was the direction to go.

Gaby has a fabulous tutorial for sale and with her permission I have posted a link to her Etsy Shop which she just opened.

I get a lot of inquiries about how to wire wrap and since there are numerous free tutorials on the traditional way to wire wrap a bezel I thought everyone would appreciate this technique.

One reason I like Gaby’s bezel is that you can see the beautiful stones. Sometimes there is so much wire it takes away from the beauty of the stone and you all know I’m all about the rock.

Gaby has other tutorials as well, like these fabulous earrings! The wire work is impeccable.
